beautiful mess

Only a week into blogging and I'm already almost a week behind! No excuses, just laziness! As the news anchors say, "here is the week in review":

Saturday.

No sleeping in anymore, like ever. This is upsetting, but, whatever, could be worse. Woke up at the crack of dawn to go run with my "running group" (this is a whole other conversation) and managed to struggle through 10 miles. Its amazing how quickly one gets out of shape. Owww, it didn't feel good.

The day progressively got better... Starting with driving with Ms. Baley to take Hannah to a foster home, with Mr. Gary who LOVES dobermans! He showed up with another friend, King, who Hannah instantly seemed to fall in love with. We were both sad to see Hannah go, but know that this sweet girl will find a home with parents who will love her!

Shopping (I think I have an addiction to the Banana Republic outlet), yard work, errands, errands, errands, FOOD.

Made these delicious cookies for a dinner party that the hunk and I attended on Saturday night; I highly recommend them, however, be warned that they are highly addictive (read on for Sunday's lunch).

Some friends from work all went to a BBQ dinner party hosted by the Stephensons', whose condo by the way is straight out of Pottery Barn catalog! SO pretty. Makes me want to come back to my house and just redo everything.

Sunday.

Up early again. Ugh. Some really are just morning people, though:

Sean and some friends , being the ambitious group that they are, have decided to create their own company! It will be called "My City Challenge," and is a spin off on the race that he and I did in St. Augustine. I'm really proud of him for all the hard work that they are doing.... Well, being the nice girl that I am (ha) I joined Sean for a lovely, humid run through downtown Orlando Sunday morning. Ugh it had to be at least 100*F WITHOUT the humidity. I was whinny most of the time, but it was a great way to see the city that I've lived in now for 25 (!) years and hang out with one of my best friends. ... He did buy my lunch for this torture :) Thanks Sean! Oh... and then pedicures, haha..... That long leg next to Sean is Jason. He was receiving his first ever pedicure, I think he may be hooked!

ps- ate like 9 of those damn cookies for "linner" as my mom would call it; glad those are out of the house, geez.

Duncan and I brought leftovers to Sean's house on Sunday! Duncan loves visiting, and any excuse to travel in the car! It was the first time that a few of Sean's friends had met Duncan, I think its safe to say that they too are in love.

Monday.

Work. Ugh, again. Woke up and instantly thought of when I could take a nap; great way to start the week, huh? haha. Work went well... That night Baley, Katie, and I went on a run through Winter Park! What a beautiful city <3 However, we did see a few cops (armed) running to the back of some house that we had just run by; I wanted to see what was going on, but was convinced that this might not be the best idea! ... After our run I did some late night grocery shopping (I shop with a list and only buy what is included on this list! WOW, huh??) and then called it a night. Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring.

Tuesday.

Step mom's birthday; Happy Birthday Caroline!

Sean came over for dinner; I tried a new recipe... Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole. It was delicious and he made guacamole (more delicious)... He even does the dishes, wow, what a lucky girl! Finally got to use my chiminea.... Disappointing that I can't light a damn fire (Sean had to); this is on my list of things to learn how to do.

Wednesday.

One day closer to Friday; thank goodness!!! Work went well... went to a delicious dinner at Olive Garden for Caroline's birthday dinner. Ate the "never ending pasta bowl", but couldn't finish one plate of my pasta??! Hmm, maybe I'm getting sick? Oh! Today was Sean and I's 4 month anniversary! Such a lucky girl! :)

And, today is yoga Thursday!!!

must love dogs

Friday the 13th! ... Wanted to say a special THANK-YOU to Baley (Remy and Faye's mom) on her wonderful deed that she is doing today! A doberman, who is now named Hannah was dropped off at the shelter by her previous owners who stated, "we just don't want her anymore," well as it turns out the shelter they so kindly took her to is FULL and Hannah was going to be put down if not adopted within 24 hours! AWFUL. I'm thrilled to hear that Baley took care of this and has agreed to foster/transport Hannah to the Dobey rescue. What a wonderful thing to do, now if only more people would this!

To the right is Ms. Hannah!

Speaking of doggies... Duncan had a wonderful play date with his good friends Remy and Faye earlier this week. He has caught wind of the blog and all the pictures I display of him and has asked that I allow him to post today...

"Hi everyone... Duncan here! My mom told me that she brags about me to all her friends so I wanted to share some stories with her friends, too. On Wednesday it was raining, A LOT, but mom had promised me the day before that I would be getting to play with my friends Remy and Faye! It started raining earlier in the day while I was in my crate and I was worried that mom would change her mind, but a few hours after she got home from work I heard those magic words, 'BUHBYE!' I LOVE LOVE LOVE to ride in the car with my head out the window, mom always tries to get a picture of me but she's silly; she can't drive and take pictures! Come on!

Anyway, we got to Remy and Faye's house; Baley and Matt are their parents (they are super cool and let their kids go on the sofas-- mom won't let me!).  As soon as we walked in it was instant play time!

Faye is so pretty, but I don't think she is interested in me. Whenever I'm over she says hello and we play but then she just wants to play ball with her dad, Matt. I don't get it, why doesn't she want anything to do with me and Remy? Whatever.

Remy on the other hand, LOVES to play with me, but he likes to bite my ankles... Oweeee. He chases me and then I get to chase him and turn to cover him in kisses in return. Oh yeah, and we both like ducks and eating grass. Mom got mad at me though when I went for a swim in the lake :( She didn't understand; I love to drink water and the lake has TONS of water.  I had to get a bath when I got home, but that's another story.

Here are some pics that Remy and Faye's mom took of us... Aren't we cute??"

life is short, but sweet for certain

Good morning! Day two of blogging... here.we.go.

Today is bittersweet. My "theme" for this day is to realize how precious life is and that we should not take a moment for granted... I would like all my blog friends to take a moment of silence to reflect on this and try to gear your actions for the day accordingly. (this is something I struggle with daily)

I'm thinking of Sean's grandfather who sadly lost his battle with cancer on Sunday.  Today is his funeral in the town of Schenectady, NY.  This is his grandfather's first home in the USA, having come over from Crete, Greece.  At 11 AM his life will be honored by all those who loved and cared about him. I feel fortunate to have met him... Such a kind man. Makes me miss my wonderful Grammy so much.

I just got a message from Sean saying that they are getting ready to have brunch at his grandfather's restaurant that he started more than 50 years ago. Amazing.

To Nick, may you rest in peace....

pretty in pink

Welcome to my blog! I'm a blogging virgin, so please bear with me as I try to share my crazy stories and ramblings with all those who are brave enough to follow....

The picture below is, in a nutshell, my blog.  The cute bald guy, Sean, is my hunk sitting at the dinner table and the other adorable guy (with his tongue hanging out dressed to the 9's in an atrocious pastel pink top) is DUNCAN!  Lucky girl huh??

they're ready for dinner!

I rescued Duncan last Halloween from the Halifax Humane Society and we've been pretty much inseparable ever since.  If this is what having a kid is like, then I want three more, JUST like him....

"you better give me a bone for wearing these necklaces!"

Precious isn't he?! Not only does he know how to sit and shake, but also lets his mommy play dress up from time to time... FYI Sean does NOT like this and is trying to make him more "manly," personally I think he looks adorable! Thoughts?

I might have rescued Duncan in October, but it was Sean who rescued me in April (he will tell you this as well).... Having grown tired of all the drama and I mean D-R-A-M-A I had experienced in relationshipspast I decided to take the plunge and try the very taboo online dating and.. VOILA, Jason Statham look alike found me! And, 4 months later I'm happier than ever (those that know me know that this is true, although I still do have my "Rachel" episodes from time to time) and somehow he is still around and putting up with my nonsense...

St. Augustine City Scramble!

Happy Wednesday my friends!
